Our Origins

Manara - Centola stands on the land and legacy of Czech-born ceramic artist Maria Ludmila and her British husband Jack Smith. Established in 1974, their workshop once drew artists and travelers from around the world.

Today, her son Benjamin Smith (a potter himself), together with Palestinian ceramic artists Manal Morcos (29 years experience) and Aisha Khatib (20 years experience), has reopened the space as a living center for creativity.

Mission: To nurture cultural exchange, creative collaboration, and environmental awareness through residencies, workshops, and community engagement - revitalizing the historic studio as a bridge between heritage and innovation.
